What is CCC?

The Caribbean Contesting Consortium is a contest club dedicated to fun, international friendship, and advancement of the contesting art through superior operating technique and maximum application of technology.

CCC's roots are in the 1994 VP5VW CQWW CW Multi-Multi expedition organized by Don Karvonen, K8MFO. Two years later, many of the same operators returned to Providenciales and operated as VP5FOC.

In 1997, the group was named and somewhat formalized by Geoff Howard, W0CG (now PJ2DX), who then organized contest expeditions for VP5FXB, VP5CW, PJ2C, and KP2F

In 2000, we were fortunate to acquire the famous Curacao QTH of PJ9JT, and now honor the long contesting history of that place by maintaining a superstation and supertradition of contesting from there. We're calling it Signal Point, and we contest as PJ2T in recognition of the long tradition of excellence established by CQ Contest Hall of Famer John Thompson, W1BIH. We became an ARRL affiliated club in February, 2003.

By 2020, PJ2T is nearing its 20th anniversary, and has won the ARRL DX contest many times in our selected category, CQWW SSB three times, CQWW CW once, and has achieved many other World # 1 wins in WPX, 160, and 10 meter contests. Winner's plaques are gradually being added to our trophy case, with hopefully many more to follow.

Starting with the acquisition of the Curacao QTH, CCC we formalized the structure of the club, creating a "Full Member" category. These members partially assist with the monthly operating costs of Signal Point, and have priority use of the QTH for contesting.
