XP LPT1 Keying (Userport)

All needed Userport files are on the PJ2T Software CD in /Userport and there should also be a /Userport folder on each PJ2T machine in the C:/ root.

Go here to get directions on how to install Userport on an XP machine. This worked successfully on a Dell XP on 10 February 2009.

Winkeyer

One approach for Winkeyer software installation is to go to the blue bin in the West bedroom and use the CD and printed instructions that are stored there.

Other approach is to go to site, "PJ2T Station Home Page", "Engineering Notes", "Winkeyer Support" and get the directions and driver files from there.

Hard code the TCP address of the form 10.1.1.x so that "x" is unique. Subnet mask 255.255.255.0.

Enter a default DNS server address of 192.168.1.1. Enter a gateway address of 10.1.1.1.

Install Writelog 10.80. Reg code is in Writelog Tips/writelog.directions at the bottom. It's necessary to explicitly install to C:/Writelog rather than take the defaults.

Explicitly create folder C:/Writelog/Contest

Install Writelog 10.85 or whatever is preferred.

Paste WL icon to desktop.

Create folder C:/KeyspanUSBAdapter (Click here for info on this adapter.) 

Copy from Keyspan CD folder on laptop (Public Documents) Adobe documentation file into the above folder.

Do not plug in the Keyspan adapter. Start the install from the "Windows Drivers" section of the CD. Bypass (Close) the automatic get of the driver from Windows Update and allow install to complete.

Plug in the Keyspan adapter and allow the driver to automatically install. 

Run "Keyspan Serial Assistant" from the Start Menu and note which COM port was assigned.

Driver install may start and finish automatically. 

If driver install starts automatically and prompts you for a source, browse to drivers in C:/Winkey/CDM20814_WHQL_Certified. Or get it from http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX,htm and get the 64 bit 2.08.12 file.

Otherwise

Start, Control Panel, View Devices and Printers, USB<-> Serial, Properties, Hardware, Update Driver and browse to C:/Winkey/CDM20814_WHQL_Certified and then determine the correct port assignment afterward.
