September 2005

Bought for CCC by K8ND from RetroBox, Columbus.

Transported to Lexington by W8TK 7 October 2005, passed to W0CG. Transported to Curacao by W0CG 18 October 2005.

October 2005

Floppy drive was inop. Scabbed in another drive to install the CD ROM drivers, then installed Windows 98 SE. installed Writelog 10.55D and all needed ham software. There were no drivers for SVGA, NIC, or sound card. N0YY downloaded Optiplex GX-110 drivers and installed them successfully.

12 November 2005

PC9 would not talk, only listen, on the Writelog network. The problem on PC9 was that the Dialup Adapter was hard coded with an IP address and subnet mask, and this IP address conflicted with the address on the NIC card. I changed the Dialup adapter to use DHCP to obtain an address and all worked fine after that.

COM1 is inop, but COM2 works fine.

Placed in reserve in East closet.

28 October 2006

Placed in service at Station # 3 in middle of CQWW SSB 2006. Worked fine.

30 January 2011

Computer would not start when we arrived in January. Front panel light flashing yellow. Swapped in good power supply from PC10 and all works fine. New ATX power supply on order for PC10.

15 February 2011

Machine repeatedly would freeze after a few minutes. Swapped in new RAM chips from PC10 but still had same problem. Next move is to put the supply from 9 back into 10, and see if PC10 will start correctly. Webcam app is not important.

16 February 2011

N4QQ tried to install a new ATX power supply that he bought but it would not physically match the slot. Also, tried many times to get machine to stop freezing with no success. For now it is removed from service as the problem must be on the motherboard. This is now spare parts machine for PC10. Has no power supply and freezes. Reconfirmed this on 7 March 2011 with the same bad result.

7 February 2014

Parts missing. Totally inop. Junked this date.
