Notes on Irrigation System

4 December 2012

Boost pump station across the street was removed sometime between March and November. Water pressure is much less and system needs to be rebalanced.

Tee at corner of pavilion patio where split goes to potted patio palm had come open from DL6LAU repair. I fixed the repair and doubled the pipe strap and it held.

Irrigation system checks today showed:

About 20 minutes of flow used 1 cu meter, approximately triple what's reasonable. For tomorrow, unplug bad ones, check nozzles where flow is excessive, try to seal the leak at the sidewalk with a collar, turn down pressure and do another timed test.

8 December 2012

Made repairs to all of above. Patched leak at sidewalk edge with a collar of tubing, glue, and a hose clamp. Turned back feed valve.

11 December 2012

Did full test for 20 minutes. All outlets are perfect after the maintenance, with no leaks. 20 minute run used .30 meters cubed. Perfect.

February 2013

Complete system cleanup, Replaced some drip regulators. Cleaned everything. Balanced flows. Working perfectly after this.

2 April 2015

New Gardena controller is in service. Old one was leaking badly from valve body. Programmed for five nights at 6:30 because this controller is not programmable for two times! Did full 25 minute test. Plugged unused outlet along back wall. Weeded around palm trees and made deeper ponds. Need a bigger saucer for ponytail palm. All flows good on the new controller. Used 0.36 meters cubed. Exactly right. Taped down the valve.

4 December 2015

Replaced leaking tee in patio tree pocket and rearranged tubing going to the new palm tree. No leaks. One drip nozzle in the pot, one out. See photo.
