Notes on AL-1200 (9) Linear

Bought from Scott Dickson, W5WZ, July 15, 2025. Scott will hold it until we can arrange shipping. This amp has two extra HV caps for 800 volts of additional headroom.

Below is an assessment from W5WZ.

The tube is a little weak.  It is a 3CX1200A7.  This amp has been at my 3rd operating position (in-band S&P interlocked with position 2) for several years.  We have not done any in-band work except in 100w NAQP, so the amp gets almost zero use.

With 100watts drive, driving into a 2500 watt dummy load, reading power output on a Daiwa NS-660A

21.175 CW, output 800 watts
14.225 CW, output 1100 watts

3.800 CW, output 1350 watts
1.900 CW, output 1250 watts

W0CG drove from Ohio to Goshen, Indiana to meet Keith Thomas and pick up the amp. Keith is an RV delivery driver who brought the amp to Indiana from W5WZ in Monroe, Louisiana.

14 - 19 Sept 2025

Tested amp at W0CG on 40 meter cloud burner. Seems functional with easy KW output, more possible. Continued test on 19 Sept at KW on 15 SSB, 100% great full power output. This amp is owned by W0CG and will remain in Ohio at that QTH until and if it is needed at PJ2T.
