Notes on US/JA Beverage

13 Feb 2003

Antenna installation completed with burying of feedline through parking area, under wall, and to shack.

22 Nov 2007

Full inspection by W0CG, removal of many trees. Much of the antenna was pinned to the ground. Cut loose very heavy vegetation full length, inspected termination.

10 July 2009

Inspected by W0CG. Was broken at about the 80 foot point. Repaired. Cleared considerable vegetation to termination. Termination appears intact. Performed well in IARU contest.

October 2010

Wire was gone from the path down to the beach almost all the way to the termination. N8NR and I replaced with black and weatherproofed.

October 2011

K8LEE and VA7DXC did full inspection and cleared vegetation. All good.

22 October 2015

DL8OBQ and N4QQ cleared the run and repaired break about 80 feet from termination.

19 October 2016

Did end to end maintenance, no breaks, but many large trees had the wire on the ground. 3.75 hours, by W0CG.

CQWW SSB October 2017

DL8OBQ and N4RV found that there was much wire missing, many trees down, and all of the K8ND extension was gone. The did quick repairs and did not solder anything.

13 November 2017

W0CG could not find any sign of the WTS/ND extension, nor the termination point, except for about 15 feet of blue wire on the ground. Working from the old extension back to the feedpoint cleared vegetation and trees, got the wire off the ground in many places, soldered the DL8OBQ twisted wire places, and repaired two breaks that were nearly all the way to the house. W0CG spent all day in two separate trips out.

18 October 2019

Antenna was totally obliterated by hotel bulldozer in late June. Found cut off feedline end, verified it had good continuity to shack, and re-buried the coax with a PL-259 on it. See photo. THis will feed temp US Bev as well as provide TX feedline for an 80 ocean vertical experiment.

New US/JA Beverage will be installed on Ridge in a safe place and fed with four cable distribution system across the street on a post.

19 February 2023

KB7Q, K7TQ and I removed the dogleg in the first 200 feet of the Ridge US/JA Beverage.
