Contest Preplanning Page

For the 2003 IARU HF World Championship, operators from the Caribbean Contesting Consortium and VERONA (Vereniging voor Experimenteel Radio Onderzoek, in de Nederlandse Antillen) will combine forces as PJ2HQ, operating as the Netherlands Antilles IARU headquarters station at Coral Cliff, Santa Marta Bay, Curaçao. Click here for the complete rules for this contest.

As a Headquarters station, we are permitted as many as 12 transmitters, one per band per mode. PJ2HQ will use far fewer transmitters than that, but we still intend to present a significant presence on the bands.

Please keep an eye on these panels as our planning for this contest progresses. (Operators -- please keep W0CG updated as your plans crystallize so that this panel can be kept up to date.)

Philosophy

This contest can not be won outside of Europe, nor do we have the staff or equipment to support an all out effort to win as a HQ station. This, and because we will helping several operators to become familiar with contest operation, dictates that we enter "for fun." We'll do our best to score well with the resources available, but this will not be a cutthroat, high pressure operation. Come and enjoy the contest with us!

About the Contest: Click here for rules. We will work as many stations as possible, once per band per mode. It is possible, then, that we may work some stations as many as 12 times. We will give a signal report and our IARU country abbreviation, and log the other station's signal report and IARU zone. (See the IARU zone map at the bottom of this panel.) Since this contest is only 24 hours long (8 AM Saturday - 8 AM Sunday (local)), we will need to do a lot of band and mode changing. Because a HQ station counts as a multiplier, we will be in very high demand on the bands.
